The Patio and Kitchen

The roofed patio where we usually eat in summer (and very often in winter) is open to the afternoon sunlight from the south and west and is kept cool at the height of summer by the plum and almond trees in the garden. The Pantry is on one side. The Patio leads into the Kitchen.

Since the kitchen is the room we use most we have kept it as simple as possible with two clearly defined areas. A curious feature is the traditional “destiladera” (water filter) whose cool dripping is very much appreciated in summer. The kitchen table was once an ancient pitch-pine heart-wood door.
