The Vegetable Garden

The vegetable garden is on the other side of the house towards the northeast. In all there are some 800 square metres of garden divided into three fields. We find one such field is quite enough for us so we rotate them: we leave two lying fallow and cultivate one each year.

The second and third fields lying fallow. The small building on the left is the winery.

We have two basic growing seasons: Autumn-Spring and Spring-Summer. In the first we grow "northern" vegetables - potatoes, onions, carrots, leeks, cabage, broccoly, broad beans, spinache, lettuce, chard, marrows ... and in the second season the "mediterranean" produce: artichokes, French beans, tomatoes, courgettes, melons etc.

The fields are each on a different level and so are divided by fruit trees along walls. The fruit trees on the property include almonds, apricots, plums, nectarines, peaches, quinces, lemons, sweet oranges, Seville oranges, figs, apples, pears, olives ...
